Getting Started

Q.  What is needed to fabricate a strut body for a particular vehicle?
A.  A factory strut - complete with the upper mount. Preferably without the coil spring and the factory spindle / knuckle.

Q.  Why do you need the factory pieces?
A.  The fabricated strut housing with a Koni strut insert is designed to be a direct replacement for the factory strut in your vehicle. With that in mind, having a factory strut for comparisan is necessary to verify form and fit. The overall length at compression and extension, the mounting holes at the base - where the strut attaches to the spindle / knuckle, any brackets attached to the strut body and the bolt pattern at the upper mount must be taken into account.

Q.  If I supply you with the factory pieces, will I get them back?
A.  Yes, once I deliver the first pair of fabricated units and the fit is verified, I will send back any pieces.


Delivery

Q.  How long does it take from the time you receive the struts and spindle / knuckle to the time I receive a fabricated strut housing?
A.  While each unit is different, initial design time and fitting of the laser-cut steel pieces is roughly 14  - 18 days. Provided the first run of laser-cut steel fits and there are no surprises, you will receive first prototype parts within a month of my receipt of the factory pieces.

Q.  How do front Strut housings differ from rear strut housings?
A.  The Front and Rear Strut housings are largely the same - the major difference is the upper mount. Since the front strut rotates when the vehicle turns, the upper strut mount is a bit more complicated than the rear.


Cost

Q.  What is the price for a fabricated strut housing? and what is included?
A.  Initial cost is $500 / pair...    If you purchase five pair the cost is $400 / pair after the first pair. This cost includes the strut housing, threaded nut and sleeve for ride height adjustment and coil spring - ( customer to assist with selecting the spring rate ) and the upper mounting hat. The Koni adjustable insert is not included in this price.
